What the feature graphic is
The feature graphic is the wide banner Google Play shows at the top of your listing on phones, behind the play button of a promo video, and in editorial placements. It is mandatory — the Play Console will not let you submit a store listing without one — and it has fixed rules: exactly 1024 × 500 pixels, PNG or JPEG, no transparency, under 1 MB. This tool bakes those rules in, so the export always passes.
Play's content rules
Google reviews feature graphics under the same policy as the rest of the listing. Keep the design clear of things that get rejected: no device frames with a screenshot of another app, no "#1" or "best" claims, no store badges or ranking claims, no text so small it cannot be read at a third of the size, and nothing that is clearly a different app's brand. A title, a tagline and your icon on a clean background is the safest layout and, in practice, the one that converts best — the graphic is shown small, and detail is lost.
The safe area
Play crops the graphic differently depending on where it is shown; the sides can lose up to 60 px and the top and bottom up to 50. Tick "Show safe-area guides" to see the region that always survives, and keep the icon and text inside it. The tool's built-in layouts already do.
